‘Dry landslide’ blocks Narayangadh-Muglin road

Chitwan, January 21

A ‘dry landslide‘ has blocked the Narayangadh-Muglin road that connects Kathmandu with the East-West Highway on Friday morning.

The road has been blocked since 2:30 am today following the landslide at Topokhola, Ichhakamana rural municipality-6 of the Chitwan district, informs the District Police Office. Hundreds of vehicles have been stuck halfway due to the obstruction on both sides of the road.

Shiva Khanal, the information officer at the Bharatpur Division Road Office, the dry landslide was caused by construction works underway to build a new bridge there.

Police say efforts are underway to remove the landslide debris and resume vehicular movement. However, it will take time as the amount of debris is quite large, the DPO says.

This road section frequently gets obstructed due to different types of landslides around the year.
