Kathmandu, June 15
The Election Commission says it is not happy with ruling parties’ preparation to defer the local level elections in Province 2 till September 18.
However, the constitutional body says it cannot do anything as it is the government’s right to fix the poll date, the Commission Secretary Gopi Nath Mainali says.
“No comment,” Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav briefly comments on the ruling parties’ decision.
Meanwhile, the ruling parties formally asked the Commission to prepare for the polls on September 18 after a Cabinet meeting held this afternoon formally made the decision about postponement.
The parties in a meeting with the Rastriya Janata Party Nepal had agreed to postpone the polls with a hope that the agitating party will join the elections.
