Kathmandu, July 4
The parliamentary hearing scheduled for Friday for Krishna Man Pradhan, who was recommended for the position of Election Commissioner, has been postponed.
The hearing committee made this decision after a discussion with the complainant on Thursday revealed the need for further investigation into the issues raised.
Pradhan is facing accusations of sexual misconduct from a woman who claims he harassed her and that she was pressured into a court settlement. This complaint and other grievances against Pradhan prompted the committee to delay the hearing.
Mahesh Bartaula, a member of the hearing committee and a UML lawmaker, stated that the hearing was postponed to allow for additional study of the complaints. He confirmed that the hearing would only proceed once the necessary investigations were completed.
The hearing committee’s discussion with the complainant was held behind closed doors. According to committee sources, the complainant has been asked to provide an audio file of her conversation with Pradhan.
