
Kathmandu, April 20
The ‘Fine Arts Fair 2082’, organised by the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, concluded on Saturday. The fair had commenced on April 14 (Baisakh 2) and ended with a special ceremony attended by Chancellor of the Academy, Naradmani Hartamchhali, as the chief guest. The closing event was chaired by Vice-Chancellor and coordinator of the fair, Lal Kaji Lama.
The fair saw the participation of numerous institutions and organisations, including the Nepal Academy, Nepal Academy of Music and Drama, Lalitkala Campus, Kathmandu University, College of Fine Arts, Srijana College of Fine Arts, Center for Socio-Economic Welfare of Enthusiastic Women, Janaki Rural Municipality (Kailali), Tharu Folk Art Hub, Sunapati Academy (Ramechhap), Idea Nepal, Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal, Himalayan Tattoo Summit, All Nepal Fine Arts Association, Bindu Space for Artists, Thakur Prasad-Indira Mainali Art Foundation, Cartoonist Club of Nepal, Nepal Handicraft Artisan Association, Kriti Art Enterprises, Printmaking Nepal, Prisma Stationery, Aran Creative Space, Briddhi Homemade, Subhadri Subha, Lalitpur Metal Sculpture Association, Nira Bahadur Tamang, The Blessings Tarot, Gurung Frame Modelling Industries, Mithila Kalakriti, Mithila Women’s Handicraft Center (Dhanusha, Janakpur), International Watercolor Society Nepal, National Fine Arts Association Nepal, Sahasrabhuja Handicraft, Samvad Foundation, Art Pavilion & Stationers, Navin Nalbo, and Mitrakala Art Studio, among others.
The event was supported by Himalayan Bank, with the Photojournalist Association of Nepal serving as media partner. During the closing ceremony, participants of the fair were awarded certificates.
Additionally, certificates were distributed to artists who took part in the “Wood Sculpture Workshop 2082,” held under the fair. Participating artists included Om Prakash Singh, Sushmita Shahi, Samjhana Adhikari, Deepak Shrestha, Sandhya Shrestha, Rajan Lamichhane, Deepak Anupam Shahi, Bidur Poudel, Ayush Sunar, Bhikshu Ananto, Nima Dorje, Bhim Bahadur Rana Magar, and Anita Shrestha.
A banner lettering competition was also held as part of the National Fine Arts Exhibition 2082 promotional campaign, coordinated by the Nepal Commercial Artists Association. The competition featured artists Kishor Chaudhary, Ghanshyam Chaudhary, Motilal Rai, Andilal Sardar, Radheshyam Chaudhary, Harikrishna Chaudhary, Kalindraprasad Chaudhary, Bikram Chaudhary, Birju Chaudhary, Ramesh Kumar Chaudhary, Krishna Mandal, Umesh Sah Teli, Santosh BC, Damphé Tamang, and Ram Krishna Chaudhary.
Umesh Sah Teli won first place, followed by Kishor Kumar Chaudhary in second and Ram Krishna Chaudhary in third. They received cash prizes of Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000, and Rs 5,000 respectively, along with certificates. The competition was coordinated by Academy Assembly Member Chandra Kumar Rai.
