Kathmandu, December 3
A week-long photo exhibition commemorating 50 years of partnership between the Government of Nepal and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in the energy sector was inaugurated at the Nepal Art Council, Babarmahal. The exhibition, organised in collaboration with the Photojournalists Club Nepal, runs from December 3 to 9.
The event was inaugurated by distinguished guests, including Minister of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Purna Bahadur Tamang ; Secretary of the Ministry, Suresh Acharya; Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Managing Director Kulman Ghising; ADB Nepal Resident Mission Country Director Amaud Cauchois; and Kristine Hauge Storholt, Minister Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Nepal.
The exhibition offers a visual journey through five decades of collaboration in Nepal’s energy sector, highlighting milestones in electricity generation, transmission, distribution, and renewable energy development.
Speaking at the event, Minister Khadka expressed gratitude for ADB’s support, stating, “Significant progress has been made in the energy sector recently. We deeply appreciate ADB’s contributions to improving the energy infrastructure of Nepal.”
ADB Country Director Cauchois highlighted the partnership’s achievements in boosting electricity generation, enhancing transmission and distribution networks, and bolstering energy sufficiency and export potential.
NEA Managing Director Ghising emphasised ADB’s pivotal role in large-scale hydropower projects and alternative energy initiatives, expressing hope for the continued strengthening of this partnership.
The exhibition is divided into four sections—Generation, Transmission, Distribution, and Beyond the Meter—offering visitors an immersive view of the progress achieved in Nepal’s energy sector through this enduring collaboration.
