Kathmandu, February 24
The absence of a joint communique at the end of his visit to India does not mean that his visit has become unsuccessful, Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli told the media in Mumbai on Wednesday.
Talking at the Reporters’ Club in Mumbai, PM Oli said his visit was meant to earn India’s goodwill for Nepal. “I have been successful on this count and that is what matters, not the joint communique,” he said.
Oli pointed: The fact that I did not make mention of the word blockade does not mean much, for I have earned the goodwill of the Indian government, people and politicians.
In an oblique reference to UCPN-Maoist Chair Prachanda’s remarks — that PM Oli highlighted his India visit unnecessarily — Oli said, “Who says what, I don’t care. I came here to raise Nepali people’s issues. On that front, I have been successful.”
