Kathmandu, January 18
The Central Investigation Bureau has accused a gang based in Thailand of trafficking Nepali women via Thailand and Sri Lanka.
We have already identified a gang that traffics Nepali women into other countries in the name of sending them to Europe and America, a source at the CIB said. The Nepal Police unit said it has already identified two Nepalis involved in trafficking Nepali women.
We have annulled the passports of these two individuals based in Thailand. The CIB has information that they have already duped 25 men and women, making some of them disappear.
The CIB has put the group, who calls unsuspecting people to Thailand in the name of sending them to other countries, loots their money and vanishes. It has been on the lookout for the gang for about a year.
These people have been evading repeated arrest attempts due to information leak, the CIB said, keeping their identities under wraps.
Once we bust the gang based in Thailand, a big outfit involved in human trafficking, many secrets will come to light, the source said.
