Kathmandu, October 11
The main opposition party, Nepali Congress, has dared former prime minister Baburam Bhattarai to show evidence that three top leaders of Nepali Congress and Nepal Communist Party pocketed Rs 9 billion from the fund allocated for the ambitious Budhigandaki Hydropower Project.
Just a few days back, speaking in a function in his home district of Gorkha, Bhattarai had claimed Sher Bahadur Deuba of the Nepali Congress and KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal distributed Rs 9 billion among themselves. He had added he also had evidence of the irregularities.
A few days after that, Deuba’s party issued a statement urging Bhattarai to give evidence.
In his statement, the party’s spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma says such statements are results of an impulse and they could not increase the concerned person’s political dignity and aura.
“We hope Dr Bhattarai is aware of it.”
