Kathmandu, November 10
Following a court order to ensure free test and treatment for Covid-19 to everyone and the dismissal of an appeal to revise the verdict, the government has withdrawn from its previous decision of not bear the cost of Covid-19 response except for some particular groups.
A cabinet meeting on Monday evening decided that all government hospitals across the country will provide free test and treatment for Covid-19, informs a minister.
The government, however, is still silent about the services provided at private hospitals. Before the decision to not bear the cost, the government had been providing a certain amount to the private facilities also for the treatment of each patient whereas the coronavirus test at private labs was provided with a minimum cost.
Meanwhile, the government formed a committee involving secretaries of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, and Ministry of Health to make preparations for purchasing anti-Covid-19 vaccines from the international market as soon as they are available.
