Kathmandu, October 18
The government has decided to not bear the cost of Covid-19 treatment for other citizens except frontline workers and the helpless ones who do not have anyone to support.
In his regular press briefing, the Health Ministry’s spokesperson Jageshwor Gautam said the government would bear the cost of test and treatment of economically poor, differently-abled, helpless, senior citizens, front-line health workers, sanitation workers and security workers only if they show any symptoms. If they have been insured for the coronavirus infection, the costs would be covered by the insurance amount, he added.
“For the rest, the individuals themselves have to bear costs of test and treatment.”
The decision will come into effect from Sunday itself.
