Rolpa has erupted in protest against the plot to remove Hill districts from Province 5. Youth, including students and people from other walks of life went around district headquarters Liwang, against the design.
The rallyists shouted slogans against the bid, sought an end to anti-federalist designs and fulfillment of their demands.
The Prachanda-led government has proposed creating the eighth Province by removing Rolpa, Rukum, Pyuthan, Arghakhanchi, Palpa and Gulmi from Province 5 and Baglung from Province 4. This proposal has sparked widespread opposition.
Speaking at the protest, president of the Nepali Congress-aligned NSU (Rolpa) Sher Bahadur Thapa, national council member of the ANNFSU Tika Gharti, central member of the ANNISU-R Bir Bahadur Gharti, among others, said Rolpali youths will spill what they called rivers of blood if the government refuses to address their demands.
On Friday itself, Federation of Nepali Journalists (Rolpa) plans to hand over a memorandum to Prime Minister Prachanda through Rolpa chief district officer against the plot to split Province 5.
