NMTEA’s cab booking app will be similar to Eddy Cab (above).
Kathmandu, February 19
Nepal Metre Taxi Entrepreneur’s Association (NMTEA) is set to launch its own cab booking app.
With the launch, customers can log in to an NMTEA app and book cabs directly from their smartphones. The app, which is currently on a test phase, will consolidate all 2,000 taxis currently registered with the association.
The move comes after several taxi booking apps, launched by private companies, surfaced recently.
The app will be based on the same system as Onver Smart Taxi and Eddy Cab, two online booking services launched recently. Customers can request a cabbie along with his location coordinates and the desired route. The transaction is successful after a cab nearby accepts the booking.
It is hoped that the app will cut down on the inconvenience of not finding taxis when required while also following a more structured fare system.
