Four Jhapa health institution receive redical supplies worth Rs 17.1 million

Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD) USA, in collaboration with Work For Nepal, has donated medical supplies and equipment worth Rs 17.1 million to four health institution in Jhapa. The handing-over program took place from January 28 to 30.

The donation aims to strengthen healthcare services in the region by equipping hospitals and health posts with essential medical resources.

Birtamod Municipality Hospital received medical supplies valued at Rs 6.868 million. The Speaker of the House of Parliament, Dev Raj Ghimire, officially handed over the supplies in the presence of Koshi Province’s Minister for Water Supply, Irrigation, and Energy.

Speaking at the event, Ghimire emphasized the collective responsibility of authorities in enhancing the hospital’s infrastructure and services.

“The hospital should be as good as other private hospitals around the country,” he stated, expressing gratitude to the donor organisations for their contribution.

Khudunbari Health Post was provided with medical supplies worth Rs 2.514 million, while the Provincial Ayurvedic Hospital received supplies worth Rs 4.054 million. Koshi Province Chief Minister Hikmat Karki handed over the equipment to the Ayurvedic Hospital, highlighting the provincial government’s commitment to transforming the hospital into a research institution. Similarly, Kumarkhod Health Post received medical supplies worth Rs 3.665 million.

HHRD Program Manager Jiba Prasad Pokharel expressed the organization’s dedication to supporting healthcare initiatives, stating that similar programs will be organized in the future. Til Chandra Adhikari, President of Work For Nepal, reiterated their willingness to collaborate with various organizations and government bodies to enhance healthcare services.
