Kathmandu, April 7

Kathmandu has reported another heritage theft yet again. Locals of Kalimati say they found a 200-year-old statue of Lord Kamadev lost this morning.

Kathmandu metropolitan city’s ward 13 chairman Dhruva Narayan Manandhar says the statue was believed to be placed there by the army of Bhimsen Thapa around 200 years ago.

The stone statue was two-foot-long.

Manandhar says he has informed the police about the heritage theft, but they have not launched an investigation yet.

Currently, locals have gathered at the site demanding the probe.

The theft and vandalism of old statues and archaeological objects are being reported in the capital every now and then of late.
