Design and display
Honor X8a is almost the same as Honor X8. The flat edges with the boxy shape give the phone look similar to the iPhone’s latest models from the past couple of years. The phone is lightweight weighing just 179 grams.
The buttons on the side panel include a volume slider and a phone lock button. The speaker and type-C port can be found at the bottom of the phone. The simple colour on the frame and the back make the phone look aesthetic. However, the back is made of plastic and not glass.
Honor X8a has a 6.7-inch LTPS LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The resolution on the display is 2388 X 1080 pixels and has an aspect ratio of 19.9:9. The display supports multi-touch gestures and up to 10 touch points.
Performance and storage
Honor X8a has Helio G88 as its chipset. It has an octa-core CPU and uses Mali-G52 MC2 as its GPU. The chipset and the processor are good for day-to-day activities but might lag on occasions such as while playing heavy-duty games like Asphalt 9 and Genshin Impact. The OS on the phone is Magic UI 6.1 which is based on Android 12.
The phone has two RAM variants: 6GB and 8GB. But, currently, the 8GB RAM variant is only available in Nepal. The storage on the phone is a standard 128GB for both RAM variants.
Camera
Honor X8a has a triple camera setup on the back. It includes a massive 100MP main camera, a 5MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP depth camera. The main 100MP camera clicks good photos during the day with proper lighting conditions but will struggle a bit to cope with low light. The rear camera supports video recording 1080P with features such as time-lapse portrait, wide angle, pro, panorama, HDR and many interesting features.
The front camera on X8a includes a 16MP selfie camera which also can record 1080P videos. It has features such as portrait, mirror reflection, gesture control, etc.
Battery and others
Honor X8a includes a typical 4500mAh battery made of Lithium Polymer. The battery can be charged using the Honor 22.5W SuperCharge charger you get along with the phone. The battery can be charged to 50% in 30 minutes, according to Honor.
The sensors on the phone include a gravity sensor, a fingerprint sensor on the side which supports fingerprint unlock, a compass, an ambient light sensor, NFC and a proximity sensor. The box of the phone includes the phone, 22.5W supercharger, USB type-C cable, quick start guide, eject pin, a protective case and protective film.
The phone is available in three colours: cyan lake, titanium silver and midnight black.
The price of the Honor X8a in Nepal is Rs 30,490 for the 8/128GB variant.
