Kathmandu, March 28
Barshaman Pun Ananta, secretary of the UCPN-Maoist, has stressed the need to form a national unity government by brining the main opposition Nepali Congress on board. Ananta said a national government is a must for the implementation of the new constitution.
Addressing a press conference in Ghorahi on Monday, Ananta expressed fear that achievements secured with joint efforts of political parties may be lost in the absence of unity between political parties.
For implementation of the new constitution, we still have to amend more than 400 laws and make around 150 new laws, he said, adding that a consensus government is must for this.
He said the state should conduct national polls, provincial polls and civic polls for implementation of the constitution, adding that this will happen in about two years.
