Kathmandu, March 15
India’s Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar arrived in Kathmandu on Monday night. Though he is here to take part in the intersummit session of foreign ministers from eight SAARC member-states, currently underway in Pokhara, Jaishankar will meet Nepal’s top political leaders regardless of protocol-related issues.
Jaishankar has plans to call on Prime Minister KP Oli, Minister for Foreign Affairs Kamal Thapa, Nepali Congress’ newly-elected President Sher Bahadur Deuba and coordinator of the New Force, Baburam Bhattarai. He will also meet Madheshi leaders at Dwarika’s Hotel in Gaushala.
In the afternoon, India’s Ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae will hold a reception in Jaishankar’s honour.
India’s External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will land in Pokhara from Gorakhpur. There, she will meet Prime Minister KP Oli.
