Kathmandu, October 12
Police in Kathmandu have arrested seven persons for their alleged involvement in betting on the ongoing Indian Premier League games.
Those arrested also include some Indian nationals.
Acting on a tip-off, police had arrested Kuldeep Sharan, an Indian national, in Kalimati on Sunday. Based on his statements, other six were arrested.
Police also confiscated two vehicles and Rs 185,120 cash from their possession.
Further investigation is underway.
Betting is considered a form of gambling in Nepal, and any involvement in it amounts to be a criminal offence as per the Gambling Act.
