Kathmandu, November 8

Scientist Mahabir Pun-led National Innovation Centre, authorised to revive Krishi Aujar Karkhana, an agricultural tool factory owned by the government, has found that 43 of the 54 machines there are still operable.

Supposedly Nepal’s first and only agricultural tool factory is not in operation for the past two decades. But, recently, the government has authorised the NIC to revive and operate the factory for the next 10 years.

However, these machines are not sufficient to revive the Krishi Aujar Karkhana as they are based on old technology, according to Pun. He says the centre has expected support from the government to introduce newer technology.

A cabinet meeting held on September 16 decided to let the centre operate the factory after reviving it.

Accordingly, the government has to finance the operation for the first year of the operation, but the exact amount has not been fixed yet.
