Lal Bahadur Bishwakarma of Sunsari, who was serving a prison sentence for fraud and banking offences, has been acquitted.
The Biratnagar High Court overturned the Sunsari District Court’s judgment, providing justice to Lal Bahadur Bishwakarma in the fraud case.
The Sunsari District Court sentenced Bishwakarma along with his employer in the fraud case.
However, Om Subedi, the information officer of the court, informed that a divisional bench of judges Bipul Neupane and Milan Kumar Rai overturned the district’s decision.
On Tuesday, the sub-judice case was heard in court, and lawmaker Sobita Gautam presented the argument for Bishwakarma’s release.
Bishwakarma was sent to prison after his employer, Deepak Pariyar, the owner of Singhdevi Jewellers located in Tarhara, Itahari sub-metropolitan city, was charged with defrauding around Rs 188 million from the general public.
Bishwakarma, who was accused of aiding Pariyar, has been claiming his innocence.
