Manakamana cable car service, one of the first passenger cable car services of the country, is closing for five days next week citing maintenance works.
The service operator, Manakamana Darshan Pvt Ltd, issued a notice to inform that the service will not be available from September 8 to 12.
A technical team from the cable car manufacturing company, Doppelmayr, from Austria, is coming to Nepal and the team will do various maintenance works including bullwheel liner changing, main motor servicing and role resplicing, the operator informs.
It has been 20 years since the cable car came into operation in Manakamana and the machines have to be given servicing at a certain interval, the company further clarifies.
Most of the devotees going to the Manakamana Temple in Gorkha, a popular shrine of the country, travel on cable cars from Kurintar of Chitwan.
