Kathmandu, February 17
Minister for Foreign Affairs, Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, has left Kathmandu for Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, on a three-day official visit, on Monday morning.
Officials at the ministry saw off the minister at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu this morning. The minister is accompanied by Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi, Joint Secretary Yagya Bahadur Hamal, Industry Ministry’s Joint Secretary Nawa Raj Dhakal and Energy Ministry’s Secretary Praveen Aryal.
On the occasion, Gyawali said he and his delegation would hold bilateral talks with the Bangladeshi counterparts during the trip. The minister added that he would also make efforts to promote the partnership between the two countries in various regional, international and multilateral forums and on various issues of mutual interest.
Earlier last week, the MoFA had informed, “The two foreign ministers will review the overall aspects of the bilateral relations and exchange views on various matters of mutual interest, such as energy, trade, transit, connectivity, tourism, and cooperation on regional and multilateral issues.”
“He will also deliver a speech at the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) on Nepal-Bangladesh Relationship and South Asian Cooperation.”
