Kathmandu, August 12
Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Chakra Pani Khanal has expressed his dissatisfaction over various research projects in the country’s agriculture sector. He is of the view that none of the projects have left any impact on the life of Nepali farmers.
Inaugurating an event organised by the Nepal Agricultural Research Council in Kathmandu on Monday, the minister expressed his unhappiness over the council’s job. He urged the council to improve its performance and connect its activities to the lives of the beneficiary. He stated that the research works should respond to the needs of the farmers.
He said the government had translated some research reports from English into Nepali to make the farmers understand the findings and learn from them.
On the occasion, the chair of the Agriculture, Cooperative and Natural Resource Committee in Purna Kumari Subedi said the government should introduce various programmes to attract more young people to the sector.
