ANFA leader files FIR against Manange
A day after the Gandaki Provincial Assembly member Deepak Manange assaulted him, the Kaski district president of All Nepal Football Association, Milan Gurung, filed a complaint against him with police.
SP Dan Bahadur Karki, the District Police Office chief, says police will move ahead as per the law after the complaint is registered.
Meanwhile, Manange organised a press conference in Pokhara on Wednesday and said he attacked Gurung because he was corrupt.
Nepali Congress top leaders resume conversation
After a gap of a few days, top leaders of the main opposition Nepali Congress have resumed a conversation in their bid to resolve a recent dispute about the dates of the 14th general convention. On Wednesday, the party’s president Sher Bahadur Deuba invited Ram Chandra Paudel to his residence in Budhanilakantha to discuss the issue. During the meeting, three leaders involved in the second-run negotiation–Bimalendra Nidhi, Krishna Prasad Sitaula and Prakash Man Singh–briefed the top leaders about their recent meetings.
Paudel says the meeting ended without any conclusion and they would meet on Friday again.

Bagmati CM to expand Cabinet
The Bagmati Chief Minister Dor Man Paudel is expanding his Council of Ministers within the next week, informs a lawmaker close to him. Deepak Niraula says the chief minister is consulting leaders of his Nepal Communist Party at the central level for the expansion. Sources say Paudel met Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli also on Wednesday.
It has been learned that Paudel will induct Rameshwar Phuyal as the Minister for Physical Infrastructure. The position is vacant since the removal of Keshav Sthapit in November 2018. Meanwhile, a few state ministers will also be added.
Phuyal is currently the chief whip of the provincial parliamentary party. When he becomes the minister, Niraula will succeed him in the party.
Dahal says protest against Sapkota fruitless
The executive chairman of ruling Nepal Communist Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, has said his party is not going to listen to protesting voices raised against the party’s candidate for the speaker’s election, Agni Prasad Sapkota.
Dahal’s statement comes after a group of human rights activists protested Sapkota’s nomination arguing he has been accused of a murder during the armed conflict and the case against him is sub-judice at a court even today. Speaking at a function in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Dahal said Sapkota was an all-acceptable candidate as no one else filed the nomination.

‘Citizen facilitators’ appointed at police offices in Kathmandu Valley
The Metropolitan Police Commissioner’s Office has begun stationing a ‘citizen facilitator’ at each of its units that carry out investigations for prosecution. DIG Bishwa Raj Pokharel, the chief of the office, says the facilitators will make sure that the services provided by the police are easily accessible, dignified, fair and transparent. The ‘facilitators’ will stay at the entrance of the concerned offices to take care of service seekers.
Pokharel gathered the facilitators and directed them for a smooth service on Wednesday, saying, “Please deliver the services with such a manner and spirit that they feel that the state, the government and the police organisation are with them.”
