Motorola has yet again brought another beautifully designed smartphone; the Motorola G84 5G. The phone is the successor of the Motorola G82 5G launched last year.
Motorola has jumped from G83 to G84 in their naming pattern this year. The G series from Motorola has gained popularity in the mid-range price category, largely due to its attractive design and impressive specs offered at competitive prices.

Design and display
The Motorola G84 5G boasts a premium design featuring vegan leather back in the Pantone colour of the year for 2023, Viva Magenta. The two other colours Marshmallow Blue and Midnight Blue have plastic backs with a matte finish.
The frame is flat is made up of plastic on all the colour options with a shiny matte finish. The camera module is in the top left corner with a slight bump. It has two camera rings with 50MP written on the side.
On the front, there is a hole punch camera cutout that houses the selfie camera. The bezels are relatively equal in size with a premium finish and look.
The G84 5G has a 6.55-inch display which uses P-OLED technology. It has FHD+ (1,080 x 2,400) pixels resolution giving out about 405 pixel density with a maximum refresh rate of up to 120Hz. It has a peak brightness of 1300 nits and a touch sampling rate of 240Hz. It has a good screen-to-body ratio of 85.7 per cent along with a DCI-P3 colour space.
It also has IP54 dust and water resistance.
Performance and storage
The Motorola G84 5G has a Snapdragon 695 5G chipset built on a 6nm process. It has an octa-core CPU with 2 high-performance Kryo 660 Gold cores clocked at 2.2 GHz and 6 power-efficient Kryo 660 Silver cores at 1.7 GHz. The graphics are handled by Adreno 619 GPU. It runs on the latest Android 13 operating system.
It has one RAM option of 12 GB which is paired with one storage option of 256 GB. It also has a microSD card slot to increase the storage.
Camera
The Motorola G84 5G has a dual-camera setup on the back which includes a 50MP main camera with an f/1.88 aperture, 1.0µm pixel size, and ultra pixel technology for low-light performance. It also has dual PDAF and optical image stabilisation (OIS) for stable shots.
The other camera is an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens with a 118° field of view. The rear camera has various modes such as ultra-res, pro (w/ Long Exposure), 360° panorama, AR stickers, live photo filters, live video filters, dual capture, night vision, portrait (w/ HDR), scan, spot colour, cutout burst shot, timer, assistive grid, watermark, leveler, RAW photo output, barcode scanner, HDR and active photos.
The rear camera can shoot 1,080p videos at 60 and 30fps. The rear camera video features include Dual Capture, Portrait, Timelapse with Hyperlapse and Super Slow motion.
On the front, there’s a 16MP selfie camera with an f/2.45 aperture. The front camera also supports various shooting modes like pro with long exposure, group selfie, portrait with HDR, auto smile capture and gesture capture. It can record 1,080p videos at 30fps.
Battery and others
The Motorola G84 5G has a Li-Po 5,000 mAh battery which can be charged using a 30W wired charger. As for connectivity, it has support for Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6 on dual bands, for internet access and Bluetooth 5.1 for wireless connections with other devices and accessories.
When it comes to audio, it has dual stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos® support, moto spatial sound, and Hi-Res Audio capabilities. Additionally, it has a 3.5mm headphone jack for using wired earphones or headphones.
It has a wide range of sensors, including a proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, SAR sensor, sensor hub, magnetometer (e-Compass), and an under-display fingerprint sensor for convenient and secure unlocking. It has dual SIM card slots, where users can use two Nano SIM cards simultaneously.
