Nawalparasi, July 31
A female rhino was found dead at Amaltari of Kawasoti Municipality-17 in Nawalparasi district this morning.
Locals informed the administration after they found the pregnant rhino dead in a bush on the bank of Narayani River, said Chief of Kawasoti Sector Forests Office, Krishna Devkota.
It has been suspected that around 16-year-old rhino might have died after failing to give birth to a calf as its horn and hooves are safe.
A team of veterinarians has arrived in Amaltari for the postmortem. Investigation into the incident is underway.
