Kathmandu, October 27
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has requested the UAE to grant amnesty to Nepali national Amar Bam.
A UAE court has awarded capital punishment to Bam. Talking to UAE’s Ambassador to Nepal, Saeed Hamdan Al Naqbi, PM asked the latter to take initiatives for granting amnesty to Bam, who hails from Darchula district.
In reply, Ambassador Naqbi said he will discuss the matter with his government. Nepal is an old friend of the UAE, Ambassador Naqbi said, adding that he will do his bit for improving bilateral relations further and addressing PM Dahal’s concerns.
Ambassador Naqbi also invited PM Prachanda for the world future energy summit that is taking place in the UAE on January 16, 2017. Nepal can draw a lot of benefits from the summit, Naqbi said, adding that this is the first time they are inviting Nepal for this summit.
PM Prachanda thanked the ambassador for the invite and said he is willing to take part in the summit, Prime Minister’s Secretariat informed.
