Nepal Covid-19 tally: 318 new cases, 562 recoveries, 1 death in 24 hours

Kathmandu, February 24

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 1,115,850 as of Thursday afternoon.

The ministry said 318 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 5,508 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 151 returned positive. Likewise, 2,235 underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 167 tested positive.

Of total tests, 2.74 per cent of the PCR and 7.47 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 4.10 per cent.

As of today, there are 9,678 active cases across the country. Of them, 272 are hospitalised, 93 in intensive care units and 17 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 562 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there was one death today.

Of the total cases so far, 954,903 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,931 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 97.8 per cent and the death rate is 1.2 per cent.

Meanwhile, 115,406 people were vaccinated today.
