Nepal Covid-19 tally: 4,961 new cases, 435 recoveries, 3 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 955,206 as of Sunday afternoon.

The ministry said 4,961 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 12,562 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 4,534 returned positive. Likewise, 2,569 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 427 tested positive.

Of total tests, 36.9 per cent of the PCR and 16.62 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 32.78 per cent.

As of today, there are 25,680 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,096 are hospitalised, 122 in intensive care units and 29 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 435 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were three deaths today.

Of the total cases so far, 816,438 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,620 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 95.6 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 54,312 people were vaccinated today.
