Kathmandu, October 22
Nepal secured a commanding 11-0 victory over the Maldives in the SAFF Women’s Championship on Sunday at the Dasharath Stadium, Tripureshwor. This marks Nepal’s first win in the tournament.
Rekha Poudel was the star of the match, netting five goals, while Priti Rai contributed a hat-trick. Sabita Rana Magar, Anita KC, and Amisa Karki added one goal each, sealing the resounding win for Nepal.
With this victory, Nepal tops ‘Group B’ with four points. Nepal’s opening match on Friday ended in a goalless draw. Bhutan also holds four points and is currently in second place.
India and Bangladesh are set to face off in the next match of the SAFF Championship on October 23 at 5:30 pm.
