Kathmandu, February 16
Nepal has expressed its concern over a statement reportedly made by Indian Home Minister Amit Shah in 2018 that his Bharatiya Janata Party wanted to “form governments” in Nepal and Sri Lanka.
Nepal’s Ambassador to India, Nilamber Acharya, met officials of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs about the revelation recently made by Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb.
In response, the officials have said they will look into the issue.
Meanwhile, Amit Shah has not made any comment about Bipab Deb’s statement. Indian political parties, however, have protested the statement.
