Kathmandu, May 12
The government of Nepal has suspended all scheduled international flights until May 31.
In its bid to control the coronavirus spread across the country, the government had introduced the suspension one week ago. Initially, it was announced for the period until May 14 only.
The country’s aviation regulator, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, informed all flight operators of the extension of the suspension on Tuesday. The decision comes on the same day chief district officers of the Kathmandu valley extended the lockdown in the capital until May 27.
In the meantime, two flights between Kathmandu and New Delhi of India, however, will continue every week as a part of the Indian government’s Air Bubble scheme.
Passengers coming in from India are required to quarantine themselves for 10 days.
