Kathmandu, March 9
The jewellery market in Nepal has seen a record gold price on Wednesday.
As of the market price set by the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Associations, a tola of the fine precious yellow metal (24 carats) costs Rs 105,500.
This is the highest rate at which the yellow metal has been traded in the country. Previous to this, the gold price had reached Rs 103,500 before it came down.
This rate set for today is Rs 2,500 dearer than that of yesterday.
Likewise, a tola of tejabi gold (22 carats) costs Rs 105,000. Meanwhile, a tola of silver costs Rs 1,450.
Economists say the increased price is the result of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine tensions.
