Kathmandu, August 3
Nepal has begun preparations to send its new political map issued in May, incorporating the encroached land of the Kalapani-Limpiyadhura region, to international agencies such as the United Nations.
Foreign Affairs Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali says the government is consulting experts and stakeholders about the process of sending the map after receiving suggestions in this regard. He, however, clarifies that the government is yet to take any formal decision about the issue.
The government has already sent the updated map to Nepal’s diplomatic agencies abroad, according to him.
Land Management Minister Padma Aryal also confirms that the ministry will soon publish the English version of the map to circulate among the international community. Aryal says her ministry has already sent the updated map to all government offices across the country although some of the offices are still found to be using the old national emblem with the old map.
