Kathmandu, August 7

The main opposition party Nepali Congress has called a meeting of its Central Working Committee to discuss the party’s proposed structural transformation in line with the new federal structure of the country.

The meeting will take place at 3 pm at the party’s central office in Sanepa of Lalitpur, according to the party’s spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma.

It has been three years since the country promulgated the federal constitution and many months since all provincial and local governments began functioning. The main opposition party, however, is yet to change its organisational structure.

During the meeting, the party will also discuss other contemporary political issues including the rejection of Acting Chief Justice Deepak Raj Joshee’s nomination for the position of Chief Justice by the Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee, informs Sharma.

The party has protested the decision claiming it was an attempt to undermine the independent judiciary.
