The main opposition Nepali Congress party is holding its central working committee meeting in Kathmandu on Wednesday afternoon. The meeting will discuss giving a new life to various sister organisations which have turned dormant after the terms of their executive committees have been over.

The party’s spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma says the meeting will be held at its central office in Sanepa of Lalitpur at 2 pm today.

The party has 12 sister organisations, and terms of executive committees of most of these wings have been over. However, the party has failed to form ad hoc committees or hold conventions owing to internal disputes. It is likely that the CWC meeting will try to forge consensus among different factions to share the leadership positions.

The biggest dispute has been seen in the student wing, Nepal Students Union. Therefore, the party’s president Sher Bahadur Deuba is likely to make a choice for the NSW after the CWC meeting.
