Nepali Congress: Paudel camp to boycott district leaders’ training

Leaders of the Ram Chandra Paudel-led faction in the Nepali Congress meet in Kathmandu, on Wednesday, March 4, 2020.

Kathmandu, March 4

District to central level leaders of the Ram Chandra Paudel-led faction in the Nepali Congress have decided to boycott a training session that the party has scheduled for vice-presidents of the district committees.

They say they will not participate in the scheduled session as the party’s establishment faction led by president Sher Bahadur Deuba recently formed various party departments without their consent and the training session is also targeted at ‘occupying’ the party leadership to be elected in the national general convention.

The party had scheduled the session for the district vice-presidents for this afternoon in Kathmandu.

“But since the dates for the 14th general convention have already been fixed, the election code of conduct is in effect in the party,” a pro-Paudel leader Prakash Man Singh says, “The party should not be involved in any activity that would influence the general convention.”

The leaders of the dissident faction had held a meeting at Singh’s residence in Chaksibari of Kathmandu this morning to discuss their strategies.
