Jhapa, July 9
CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has clarified that his party will not support the constitution amendment bill currently stuck in Parliament, claiming it was “designed by foreign forces.”
Oli’s statement comes after ruling parties prepare to push the bill to voting.
The former prime minister claimed the proposal was drafted in a bid to create divisions between mountains, hills and plains.
He even went on to say that some foreign forces invested their energy to create alliances against the UML, but people defeated those attempts through the first and second phases of local level elections.
Meanwhile, Oli warned that his party would take action against its leaders and cadres who acted against party’s official candidates and played a role to defeat them in recent polls.
Congratulating new local body leaders recently elected from his party in his home district Jhapa today, Oli said, “I need clarifications within one week on why and how we lost in the places which we had been winning every time.”
He, however, directed the elected people’s representatives to take other parties also into confidence and expedite development works at the local level.
