Kathmandu, January 15
Indian media have claimed that people have been stealing diesel from the India-Nepal petroleum line by digging holes in it.
However, Nepal Oil Corporation says it has not received any information about diesel loss although it has been informed that the pipeline was attacked.
The spokesperson at the corporation, Binit Mani Upadhaya, says the corporation has been getting diesel in the expected amount regularly.
Further, he says the corporation would not have to bear the cost of the stolen diesel even if it was stolen. He says those responsible for the attack on the pipeline had been arrested by the Indian police.
Earlier, Navbharat Times had reported that diesel has been stolen from Nawigunj in Bihar, around 100 kilometres away from Nepal. It says over 1,000 litres diesel has been stolen so far.
The petroleum pipeline starts from Motihari in India and ends at Amalekhgunj in Nepal. Prime ministers of the two countries had inaugurated it in 2019.
