Kathmandu, April 27
Various opposition parties including the main opposition CPN-UML have said they will not let Parliament endorse the constitution amendment bill.
The parties, however, have decided to take part in the amendment process and said they will file amendment proposals to the bill.
The Parliament Secretariat has given lawmakers a time of 72 hours to register amendments.
A meeting of the parties held at the UML Parliamentary Party Office in Singhadarbar concluded that the ruling parties could not collect two-thirds support for the endorsement, according to CPN-ML General Secretary CP Mainali.
Meanwhile, the parties also discussed forming an alliance among them for upcoming local level elections. However, no concrete decision has been made on the issue.
