Kathmandu, July 7
Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel says the main opposition CPN-UML should not hesitate to discuss the constitution amendment with an open mind.
Addressing the Parliament meeting today, Paudel said the open discussion would be a must to bring the agitating Rastriya Janata Party Nepal on board local level elections in Province 2 scheduled for September 18.
“The UML should also clearly talk about to what extent it wants to pass the amendment,” he said, “Then, let us have a clear communication with the RJPN.”
The RJPN has been warning of boycotting the polls unless its major demands including the constitution amendment would be met whereas the UML has been saying that the bill currently pending in the Parliament cannot be endorsed as it is not justified.
Meanwhile, Paudel accused the main opposition party of using money in the local polls.
He said unauthorised use of money in the elections would jeopardise democracy.
