Kathmandu, September 8
The Pokhara metropolitan city government today started demolishing illegal structures at the Pokhara Art Gallery and a library in Mahendrapul of Pokhara.
Considering the old and dilapidated state of the building, the decision to demolish the only public gallery in Pokhara, established in 1999, was made by former mayor Man Bahadur GC during his tenure.
Accordingly, a team including current mayor Dhana Raj Acharya made the decision to move forward with the demolition this morning.
The lower floor of the gallery was being rented for commercial purposes.
This move follows the Kathmandu city government under the new mayor Balen Shah launching a popular demolition spree.
