A police constable has been arrested for being involved in a group that sends Nepalis abroad on visit visas by making fake documents.
SP Rabindra Regmi told Onlinekhabar that Jibraj Tamang, a police constable working at the Tribhuvan International Airport Security Police Office, was arrested by the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office.
Police have also arrested 30-year-old, Ashish Shrestha from Udaipur who admitted to accepting Rs 500,000 to fabricate a grade 12 certificate for the visa application process.
Following a complaint regarding an attempt to send money abroad using counterfeit educational certificates, the police initiated an investigation. Shrestha was the initial arrestee. According to the investigating officers, the involvement of police constable Jibraj came to light based on his statement.
It is alleged that Tamang played a role in facilitating the passage of individuals through airport checks en route to the setting. He has provided a statement denying the allegations. The police are conducting an investigation, focusing on the technical aspects of the case.
The Crime Investigation Office has sent both of them to the District Police Range, Teku for further investigation.
