Rajbiraj, March 6
Apart from announcing a bandh, UDMF cadres are staging demonstrations in a number of places in Saptari district, including Rajbiraj, Kanchanpur and Bhardaha, in the name of stopping the CPN-UML’s Mechi-Mahakali Campaign, on Monday.
UDMF cadres are also obstructing the East-West Highway. On the charge of defying the shutdown, UDMF cadres vandalised half a dozen vehicles in Shambhunath municipality on Monday. The cadres vent their ire on the vehicles that police were escorting.
As per the schedule, the UML’s campaign rally will reach Saptari from Itahari.
UML cadres are presently busy building a podium for the programme. Authorities have stepped up security to avert untoward incidents.
