
Kathmandu, June 16
The Election Commission has shut down local election offices established in local units of Province 2 after the government deferred elections in eight district of the Province till September 18.
Likewise, staff deployed for the polls have also been withdrawn.
Following the Commission’s decision, the staff have already shut the offices, the EC says on the basis of reports obtained from districts.
The Commission will take decisions about reestablishing the offices and deploying staff for the polls at an appropriate time before September 18, according to EC spokesperson Surya Prasad Sharma.
The government on Thursday had decided to put off the polls for three months.
