Kathmandu, February 2
A senior superintendent of Nepal Police, who was accused of raping a woman, has surrendered, informs the national police organisation.
SSP Saurabh Rana, stationed at the federal police unit office in Dharan of Sunsari district, went to the District Police Office on Sunday morning and surrendered, according to the DPO chief SP Yagya Raj Pokharel.
Earlier, police were preparing for his arrest after a woman of Dharan filed an FIR against him. She had accused the police officer of raping her at a hotel in Itahari. Following the complaint, the Ministry of Home Affairs had suspended him.
Meanwhile, SP Pokharel says the DPO will begin an investigation after Rana’s surrender.
