The Russian government is ready to provide relief to the families of Nepalis who died in the Russia-Ukraine war after enlisting in the Russian army.

Amrit Bahadur Rai, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has announced that the government has made inroads with Russia to help Nepali citizens affected by the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

“They have said they will provide relief to the family members of those who have died in the war,” said Rai. “The relief will be sent via the Nepali embassy.”

According to Rai, the funds will be brought to Nepal via the Ministry and will be dispersed to the families of Nepalis who died in the Russia-Ukraine war via the district administration office.

Previously, the Russian government had stated that the deceased person’s family member had to go to Russia to collect the relief amount. However, now, Russia has agreed to send the money to Nepal via the Nepali Embassy in Russia.

The Ministry, however, does not know when the Russian government will send the amount. According to sources, the family of the deceased individual may receive around Rs 15 million if the person had insurance coverage. However, if the individual did not have insurance, the family’s compensation is estimated to be around Rs 7.3 million.

The Ministry said it does not know what the relief amount will be.
