Kathmandu, January 11
A resident of Pyuthan Municipality, ward number 4 Khathewar, Sonu Sunar, has died in the Russia-Ukraine war.
According to his neighbour Khagendra Thapa, a Nepali enlisted in the Russian army who was with Sunar and is now injured informed about his death. Thapa said that he had informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about this.
Devendra Barma, the deputy mayor of the municipality, paid tribute to Sunuwar and wrote on his social media post, “I am saddened by the news of the death of Sonu Sunuwar, a resident of Pyuthan Municipality, Ward number 4, Khathewar, in the Ukraine-Russia War. Wishing his soul eternal peace, I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved family.”
According to Thapa, Sunar went to Russia via Dubai. He had been working in Dubai for two years and it had only been a few months in Russia.
