Remittance hits Rs 263 Billion mark in just 2 months, up 15%

Kathmandu, October 17

The country received more than Rs 263 billion in remittances during the second month of the current fiscal year, up from Rs 228.37 billion in the same period last year.

“Remittance inflows increased by 15.2 per cent to Rs 263.14 billion in the review period, compared to an increase of 18.7 per cent in the same period of the previous year,” the Nepal Rastra Bank stated in the Current Macroeconomic and Financial Situation of Nepal report released today.

In US Dollar terms, remittance inflows reached $1.96 billion in the month of Bhadra, compared to $1.73 billion during the same period last year, according to the central bank.

The number of Nepali workers, both institutional and individual, taking first-time approval for foreign employment stood at 76,485, while those seeking approval for re-entry totalled 40,583.
