Nepal receives Rs 900 billion in remittances in seven months

Nepal received Rs 900 billion in remittances in the first seven months of the current fiscal year, according to a financial report published by Nepal Rastra Bank.

Between mid-July and mid-February, the country recorded a total remittance inflow of Rs 900.58 billion, marking a 7.3 per cent increase compared to the same period last fiscal year. However, in terms of US dollars, the growth stood at only 5.3 per cent. In January alone, Nepal received Rs 137 billion in remittances.

During this period, 230,439 Nepalis obtained final labour approval (institutional and individual) for foreign employment, while 162,628 workers renewed their labour permits. In the same period last year, these figures stood at 206,390 and 133,940, respectively.
